In today’s overstimulated world, we rarely experience silence. Bedside alarms often start our day and television usually ends it. In between is the sound of chat, music, traffic, meetings, mealtimes, gadgets, and conversations.
At 108 Yoga we believe taking time to meditate can restore our balance, boost our energy, and condition our minds to be more adaptive and responsive to the environments in which we now live and work.
When we meditate, we lower our stress levels, get to know our pain, connect better, and improve our focus.
But it doesn’t come naturally or easily to everyone.
That’s why we offer to guide you gently through the process of learning mindful meditation. We teach you how to pay attention to your breathing, notice when your mind wanders (which it will!), and how to practice returning to the breath to build the muscles of attention and mindfulness. We’ll teach you to love silence. To disconnect in order to self-connect.
If you’d prefer us to leave it all to you, we also have early morning Self-Reflection sessions.
Yin Yoga
The practice of Yin Yoga is based on ancient beliefs that there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses, we can open blockages and allow our energy to flow freely.
Yin Yoga is slower and more meditative, and because poses are held for longer, it helps to stretch and lengthen rarely-used tissues, muscles and ligaments while also teaching how to breathe through discomfort.
Restorative Yoga
There should be no guilt attached to needing more rest. It’s a necessity not a luxury.
The hardest part for many of us is learning how to get our active brains and busy bodies to switch off and start relaxing.
108 Yoga’s restorative breathing sessions bring you to a place of rest using gentle yoga positions and simple breathwork tools that you can use whenever you need to feel a little more balanced, centred and calm.
Incorporating our restorative breathing practices into your work/life routines for even a few minutes can have profound effects on your body and mind.
Immersive Sound Healing
Pause for a moment and listen. Whatever you can hear – a revving car engine, the air conditioning hum, a ringing phone…each sound is at a frequency that impacts on your mind and body and influences how you feel.
Sounds at some frequencies, however, have huge healing powers and encouraging our brain to absorb them can help us feel relaxed, alert, focused, and even help our major organs and tissues to heal and regenerate.
As well as physical health, we use sound healing to release blocked energy and restore emotional balance. It plays a part in all our sessions and is also available in a dedicated session.
Our sessions are a multi-sensory experience designed to align your entire body, in which you switch off and stretch out surrounded by deep meditative sounds and vibrant themed images on a giant screen.
