Our Yoga Master

For as long as Preeti Sharma can remember, yoga and wellbeing have been at the centre of her life.

Born into a family rooted in India’s spiritual practices, as a child Preeti woke to the sound of morning prayers and rose to find her parents practising yoga on cotton rugs by lamplight.

Her early years were spent studiously watching the yoga and meditation rituals that became part of everyday home life.

When it was her own turn to begin a journey of enlightenment, she experimented with several styles of yoga that now, 20 years later, are the bedrock of her 108 Yoga methodology. Along the way, she has received accreditation as a Master Teacher from major international certification bodies.

As well as her accreditations as a yoga teacher, she is Reiki Master Teacher, a qualified sound healing therapist, and a certified meditation and aromatherapy practitioner.

Our Name

We chose 108 for our name because this sequence of numbers, has long been considered sacred in Hinduism and Yoga and in several ways has strong links to spiritual awareness

For instance:

Ancient clerics believed 1 represented God and the universe,

0 represented emptiness, and the 8 pointed to infinity and timelessness

Mantras during meditation are counted using a string of 108 Mala beads

The Pranayama practice of breath regulation is completed in 108 breathing cycles

108 three numbers add up to 9; the universal symbol of love, eternity and awakening

Yoga masters practice Sun Salutations; a sequence of nine rounds comprising 12 yoga poses each, that again sums upto 108

The ancient Indian medical system of Ayurveda identifies 108 sacred points on the body

The distance between the Sun and Earth is roughly 108 times the Sun’s diameter
